The Union of India made up of 25 States and 7 Union Territories, with a total of 543 constituencies. Uttar Pradesh leads in the number of constituencies with 85.
The1991 census count placed the Indian Population at 884 million as on March.The population has grown at an annual average rate of 0.83 percent
between 1901 & 1951 and at a more rapid pace of 2.13 percent in the post-independence period between 1981 and 199. If this rate continues
until the year 2000, the Indian population would 1025 million, about one
half more than what it is today.
Area wise Madhya Pradesh happens to be the biggest state of the Union and Goa the smallest.
Madhya Pradesh covers 13.48% area of the whole Nation.
